Which DVC room makes a point go further? A rack-rate quiz

A DVC point costs about the same wherever you use it: $8 to $12 a year in dues at a Disney World resort, or $20 to $22 to rent one from another member. What it buys varies a lot. Divide Disney's rack rate for a night by the points that night takes and you get rack-rate dollars per point: $36 on average across every Disney World villa in 2027, $81 on the best night of the year.

Four rounds. Each shows two rooms and their rack rates; guess which one gets more rack-rate dollars per point, then read the answer. Score yourself out of four.

The short version

  • Round 1: a Saratoga Springs studio ($43 a point) beats the Polynesian Bungalow ($30).
  • Round 2: Old Key West's studio ($48) beats the Grand Floridian's ($42).
  • Round 3: an Animal Kingdom 2-bedroom ($50) beats a Riviera studio ($44).
  • Round 4: the best night of 2027 is a BoardWalk studio on Tuesday, May 4: 10 points for an $805 night, $81 a point.
  • Holidays and big rooms take the most points, so each point covers less. Plain studios on quiet weeknights cover the most.
The scale for the quiz: dues $8–12 a point, rent $20–22, Disney's rack rate per point $36 on average and $81 on the best night of 2027.

One point, four prices

  • What owners pay in dues: $8 to $12 a point at Disney World resorts in 2026.
  • What a point rents for: $20 to $22, member to member.
  • Disney's rack rate ÷ points: $36 a point, the average over every Disney World villa for all of 2027.
  • The best rack-rate night of 2027: $81 a point. Round 4 asks you to find it.

Rack rate is Disney's own listed price for the night, tax included, before any discount, checked on Disney's site in September and October 2026 (Disney's 2026 published rate for nights not checked). Per point is that rack rate divided by the points the same night takes.

Rack rate = Disney's listed price for the night, tax included, before any discount, checked on Disney's site Sep–Oct 2026 (Disney's 2026 published rate for nights not checked). Per point = rack rate ÷ the points the same night takes on DVC's 2027 point charts. Rounds 1–3 are averages over every night of 2027; round 4 is single nights, resort-view studios. Disney discounts can lower the price. Disney World only.
